This time, I chose the character of Goku as the theme. He is my favorite Dragon Ball Z, Super, GT character. On the cap, Super Saiyan 3 Goku is drawn in a pop version so that, unlike the more realistic Vegeta cap, I can draw him in full."

Super Saiyan 3 Goku Cap: A Word from the Designer

After creating the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta cap for my brother, and after seeing the joy it brought me to work on characters I've loved all my childhood, nothing made me want more than to make another Dragon Ball cap. This time, I chose the character of Goku as the theme. He is my favorite Dragon Ball character. On the cap, Goku is drawn in pop version so that, unlike the more realistic Vegeta cap, I can draw him in full.

The cap represents Goku in Super Saiyan 3 form. This form of super saiyan can be achieved by a Saiyan who has already managed to obtain super saiyan 2 in the past, and then trains intensely. Surprisingly, it turns out that this form can only be achieved under abnormal and extraordinary circumstances, since for example Goku reaches the stage of Super Saiyan 3 while he is dead, and Goten and Trunks cannot reach this form unless they fuse to become Gotrunks.

Legend has it that the level of Super Saiyan 3 uses the full potential of a Saiyan extracted from every drop of his blood. While the goal of level 4 super saiyan is to use physical strength with 100% stamina, the main purpose of the Super Saiyan 3 transformation is to increase the use of its ki. Super Saiyan 3 is thus a transformation that consumes much more energy than Super Saiyan 2. The level of Super Saiyan 3 also causes high levels of fatigue, even after Goku returns to his normal form. However, there are great qualities to becoming a super saiyan 3 compared to a super saiyan 2, as shown by Goku on the cap, with his 100% self-confident look! Super Saiyan 3 Goku then has a reaction of speed, power, strength, endurance that are pushed beyond normal limits. The sudden transformation into Super Saiyan 3 is such a violent explosion of power and strength that the saiyan can potentially die by becoming Super Saiyan 3. Goku and Gotrunks can easily defeat opponents that a super saiyan 2 could not counter. The first time Goku uses this form on Earth, his power causes massive damage, such as tsunamis, hurricanes, which almost destroys the planet. After several transformations, Goku seems to control his transformation into Super Saiyan 3 more easily to avoid such effects, so dangerous for Earth and its inhabitants.

Regarding the appearance of Super Saiyan 3, as can be seen on this Goku New Era cap, we notice that the transformation causes serious physical changes. The particular characteristic of the transformation is the length of the Super Saiyan's blond hair. On this Dragon Ball cap the hair almost touches the ground because Goku is drawn in child mode, but despite this the hair is impressively long. Goku and Gotrunks thus get hair that hangs lower than their buttocks. The hair color is still blond / golden / gold with a slightly darker shade, and a slightly more golden yellow, compared to previous super saiyan forms. The Super Saiyan no longer has eyebrows, which is quite strange, and which makes the forehead and the contour of the eyes wider. I tried to make this clearly visible on the Goku New Era cap.

At the level of the body itself, we can notice a small increase in muscle mass, and the muscle is also better defined. The radiation of energy is so important in Super Saiyan 3 that the aura vibrates at an extremely high frequency, almost to the point that it seems static. The aura on the DBZ cap was made using a fluorescent red spray paint, which gives this unique effect to the cap, under ultra-violet neon. The aura also has a sound, a vibratory frequency higher compared to super saiyan 2, whether in anime, movies, and episodes of the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, or Dragon Ball GT cartoon series.

This, I could not represent on the cap, but Goku's voice, when he becomes Super Saiyan 3, is then a little deeper, however, the personality does not change, since no particular emotion is required to start the transformation. For example, Goku looked stoic, to intimidate Babidi and Majin Buu, and Gotrunks acted as he usually did. In the great video game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, it turns out that if a Saiyan is bald, his hair will grow back when he becomes super saiyan 3.

In terms of the power and capabilities of Super Saiyan 3, it turns out that a Super Saiyan 3 is 4 times stronger than a Super Saiyan 2, which means it is 8 times stronger than a normal Saiyan, knowing that a Super Saiyan is, at the base, already 400 times stronger than a human. Goku uses his transformation into Super Saiyan 3 in a brief battle against Majin Buu to hold him off long enough for Gotrunks to find the dragon radar.

But let's just go back two minutes to the Super Saiyan 3 Goku cap, because passion distracts me. In my previous statements, I explained that the Goku character on the cap is not child Goku. It is indeed adult Goku, but in pop version, as explained earlier in this text. Indeed, I'm not too fond of the Dragon Ball episodes when Goku is a child, whether it's Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball GT. However, I think the Goku on this cap is super cool! What do you think? But I do like Dragon Ball Super! Goku briefly appears as Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Super, after he fought Beerus as Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, but none of the versions worked effectively. Indeed, even though his speed and power are improved, it's not enough to just match Beerus' techniques and skills. Goku Super Saiyan 3 is unfortunately, in the end (attention spoiler!) defeated, as Beerus simply touches his shoulder, causing Goku to become unconscious for a short moment. Later in the Dragon Ball Super saga, it turns out that the Super Saiyan 3 version is surpassed by the Super Saiyan God version that Goku uses against Beerus. A version that is itself later surpassed by the Super Saiyan Blue alias Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan stage, which Goku reaches after obtaining the power of a super saiyan god against resurrected Frieza.

From that point on, Goku uses the Super Saiyan 2 and 3 versions only occasionally, and then prefers to take the form of Super Saiyan Blue. In the anime Dragon Ball Super, Gotrunks does not use the Super Saiyan 3 version until the battle against Vegeta clone, realizing that his current form will not be enough to defeat him, after his best attacks like the "great special Rolling kick" or the "special flash strong" prove futile. Vegeta clone then easily blocks the way for Gotrunks, defeating him with ease, having the power of Vegeta himself.

Finally, did you know this: above the Super Saiyan 3, there is therefore the Super Saiyan Blue, alias Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, right. But did you know that there is also the Legendary Super Saiyan? Find out, this last one has been presented in several video games Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, GT, or even Dragon Ball Super.
